Ocean currents are important for many reasons. Ocean currents have the ability to distribute heat to the equators and poles. It also makes a big affect in out climates. It even brings nutrients from the bottom of the ocean to the surface. Upwelling currents are important for fishing, pushing water away from shore and bringing the deep water to come up. The Global Conveyor Belt current helps travel around the world and moves the temperature of the water towards other areas by circulating. They are other currents that are very important too like the gyres, rips, and long shore currents.
